Weekend Enrichment Activities

We welcome children from our school and the surrounding neighbourhoods to join our Weekend Enrichment Activities! Running exclusively on Saturdays and Sundays, these hands-on programs are designed to spark creativity and build essential skills in a dynamic learning environment.

Each season concludes with a special showcase event, where parents can celebrate their child’s achievements, and participants receive certificates of completion.

Key Details of the sessions are as follows:

Time: Enrichment Club Activities will be scheduled on Saturdays & Sundays

We have divided the school year into two enrichment seasons to provide more variety and opportunities for exploration. To begin with the club will offer engaging hands-on activities in Archery, Embedded Systems/IoT, and Aero-Modelling, giving learners’ an opportunity to explore new fields and develop both mental and physical skills. Here is a glimpse into these activities

Activity 1: Archery with Dhyan Chand Sports Academy

Introduction:

Archery, an ancient skill involving a bow and arrow, combines physical strength with mental focus and precision. Through this activity, students will learn fundamental archery techniques while developing key skills in concentration and discipline.

Key Points:

• Types of Bows: Learners’ will be introduced to various bow types such as the recurve, compound, and longbow.
• Essential Equipment: Proper use of arrows, quivers, arm guards, and finger tabs.
• Technique & Safety: Emphasis on correct shooting stance, technique, safety protocols, and range etiquette.
• Scoring Systems: Familiarization with competitive scoring in archery.

Learning Objectives:

• Create awareness about the basic principles of archery.
• Engage in proper shooting forms and techniques.
• Develop focus, mental discipline, and concentration.
• Improve physical coordination and strength.

Eligibility:

• Grade Level: Suitable for learners in Grade 4 and above
• Age Requirement: Open to learners aged 9 and older

Activity 2: Embedded Systems / IoT (Internet of Things) – Raspberry Pi – CADD Centre

Introduction:

This program introduces learners’ to embedded systems, which combine hardware and software to perform dedicated functions within larger mechanical or electrical systems. Learners’ will explore coding and hardware through hands-on activities with Python, Arduino, and Raspberry Pi..

Course Outcome:

1. Increase the learners’ understanding capabilities
2. Kindle innovative thoughts among the learners
3. Improve understanding of design, mechanical and electronic concepts
4. Enhance the learners understanding of crafting, craving and assembly
5. Build the ability of the learner to design UAV systems

Identify different hardware for UAV and aerodynamics for UAV:

1. Prepare preliminary design requirements for an unmanned aerial vehicle
2. Perform systems testing for UAV
3. Design micro aerial vehicle systems by considering practical limitations

Eligibility:

• Grade Level: Suitable for learners in Grade 8 and above
• Age Requirement: Open to learners aged 13 and older

Activity 3: Aero-Modelling with Sky Rider Aero Solutions

Introduction:

Since 2015, Sky Rider has fostered student interest in Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs). This program focuses on imparting skills in aero-modelling, robotics, and automation, empowering students to apply practical knowledge to real-world problems with an emphasis on sustainability.

Objectives:

1. Gain knowledge in aero-modelling and UAV fundamentals.
2. Absorb and apply practical concepts in UAV design and functionality.
3. Receive hands-on training in robotics and automation, skills increasingly essential in modern industries.

Each activity within the After School Enrichment Club is designed to broaden student horizons, encourage practical learning, and nurture talents in emerging fields. By joining, students can explore their passions and continue to grow beyond the school day.We are excited to embark on this journey with you and your children.
