Chettinad Hari Shree Vidyalayam is managed by the Chettinad Group under the auspices of the Gandhinagar Education Society, founded in 1954. A request by the members of the society to help educate the children from the Gandhinagar and Raja Annamalaipuram areas led Padmabhushan Dr. Rajah Sir M.A. Muthiah Chettiar to establish schools for children of all age groups. From 1956 until now, several schools have been established by the Chettinad family and are functioning as charitable institutions.
Hari Shree was established in 2004. Born with a vision to create a joyful, transformative learning environment for children to get rooted to their culture, to think globally and act locally, the school has grown over the years, unswerving from its core values.

The identity of Hari Shree Vidyalayam is inspired by the Sahasrara Chakra. As per the yogic traditions, the Sahasrara Chakra relates to pure consciousness, and it is from this chakra that all the other chakras emanate. The word Sahasrara translates to ‘a lotus with 1000 or infinite petals’. The overall form of the logo also resonates with the form of a glowing sun in our astronomical space. The overall energies emitted by the union of this form and its colours symbolize generosity, focus, leadership, warmth of the community and friendships.
The school aims at developing compassionate and responsible global citizens, who would contribute towards a peaceful sustainable future, create awareness and make an impact on society, shifting the focus from ‘I’ to ‘we’, from ‘me’ to ‘us’ and from ‘my’ to ‘our’.
