Volunteering as a Class Parent

The main role of a Class Parent is to act as a communication bridge between the school and the parents in your class. There will be one Class Parent for each class.

The main responsibilities of a class parent include:

  • Maintaining the contact details of everyone in class which will be provided by school initially; if there are any changes to the details in the course of the year, you need to make sure that the parent provides the changes to you and to the school office.
  • Get to know all parents in your class
  • Create an effective way to communicate with parents of your class
  • Gather volunteers when there is a need
  • Inform everyone in your class about any last minute holiday declared due to rain, bandh, etc.
  • Communication with the teacher should only be through email. If necessary an appointment can be fixed with the respective teacher.
