Tamil Department

Ms. Srirangam – HOD

She holds an M.Phil in Tamil. She has completed her B.Ed and has enjoyed more than 15 years of teaching experience. She chose the teaching profession because of her interest in the subject and because she sincerely believes that it is a comfortable choice of profession for women.

She has taught children from varying socio-economic background and feels children are children. They are the same everywhere.

“In adhering to the needs of the children from a fisherman community, I understood that they were very comfortable with their environment. I had to accept that they showed more interest in their economic pursuits than in Tamil literature. But their affection was genuine. I still have a huge shell that was gifted to me by one boy many years ago.

The children of HSV are from a different background, but they are similar to my previous students as they too have limited exposure to pure Tamil. However their interest and attitude towards learning is rewarding.

As an individual my involvement in the cultural activities of the school allows me to grow as a person. Putting up a play gives me the opportunity to write scripts. The reading passage concept has given me the chance to catch up on my reading. To conclude I am grateful that HSV is a platform for the development of Tamil language & Culture.”
