The Nature club at Harishree aims to sensitize the students on the various environmental
issues and to encourage them to affect a solution by themselves It also aims at building a
community of future citizens who will believe in one of Gandhiji’s most legendary sayings
“Be the change you want to see in the world.”
The focus of the club will be on reducing & recycling waste with a special thrust on the
new phenomenon of digital waste.
The Activities planned for the year include:
1. Projects
The curtain raiser: Towards a greener Hari Shree
We propose to launch the activities for this year with a kitchen garden with Dr. Parthiban
as our resource person. We are gearing up for participation in The Ericsson ‘Greening India Campaign’.
This competition aims at spreading awareness among the school-going generation on the significance of
recycling waste. If selected, the children of the club will pursue one green initiative for a period
of a fortnight in July.
Other projects for the year
- Mushroom Cultivation
- Preparation of organic manure
- Creating Awareness of eco-friendly practices like harnessing solar energy, saving energy,
waste minimization, turning waste into wealth, water conservation, indoor pollution prevention
and interior green architecture
- Segregation of waste at the school level
- Home-Community projects: These include the projects that the children can pursue at home like
the making eco friendly products from the waste material.
2. Field trips & Hands –on Learning
- Visit to eco parks & the pollution control board
- Visit to a model green home
3. Miscellaneous Activities
- Guest lectures and interactive sessions with resource people
- Screening of movies pertaining to environmental issues
- Training for eco quiz competitions
