HSV emerges second in Spellinc Competition once again! |
We are proud to announce that Aparna Ramanujam of Std X, Dakshin Sitaram Padmanabhan of Std IX and Karthik Sriram of Std VIII emerged Second at the city level Spellinc competition. The children who won a cash prize of Rs. 15,000 contested with 75 other schools in the city. Congratulations children! The children represented the school after emerging the top 3 contenders at the school level Spellinc competition for Std 8, 9 & 10. |

Investiture Ceremony |
July 4, Chennai: The Investiture Ceremony of the Student Council Election of Chettinad Hari Shree Vidyalayam was celebrated in the school premises. The ceremony was conducted under the auspices of the Chief Guest Lt. G Suriyanarayanan , the Director of the school, Smt. Geetha Muthiah and the Principal Smt. Deivanai.
The investiture ceremony felicitated the executive committee members & the prefect body who were the elected representatives of the council elections for 2011.
The ceremony included the lighting of the traditional Kuthivilaku, Director’s Address, the investiture ceremony, the Diya ceremony in which the outgoing council transfers responsibility to the new council by handing over the traditional diya and the Chief Guest’s Address. The school also witnessed speeches by the outgoing & newly elected Head Boys & Girls.
The school elections were held on June 24. The highlights of this year’s elections were the introduction of the electronic voting machine & the extension in the numbers of student representatives in the council. New posts like the Asst. Cultural Secretary & Asst. Press Coordinator were brought in addition to the other executive posts that includes the Head Boy & Head Girl, the Asst Head Boy & Head Girl, the Cultural Secretary & Press Coordinator. The additions were made to permit more student participation as the school witnesses a steady growth every year.
The election process:-
The elections were open to all candidates from Std VI to X. Round 1 was the nomination of prefects at the class level. The nominated candidates from each class were given a week’s time to conduct their election campaign. Candidates were allowed to campaign through speeches and promotional posters. The students of Std VI to X then elected their representatives on the election day.
There were 42 prefects and 12 executive committee members elected in all. |
