Howard Gardner is the John H. and Elisabeth A. Hobbs Professor of Cognition and Education at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. He also holds positions as Adjunct Professor of Psychology at Harvard University and Senior Director of Harvard Project Zero.

In 2005 and again in 2008, he was selected by Foreign Policy and Prospect magazines as one of the 100 most influential public intellectuals in the world. The author of 25 books translated into 28 languages, and several hundred articles, Gardner is best known in educational circles for his theory of multiple intelligences, a critique of the notion that there exists but a single human intelligence that can be adequately assessed by standard psychometric instruments.

 
 
 
 
 
 

The Origami Workshop at Hari Shree Vidyalayam- 25th Jan

 

The Japanese Consulate organized a special origami workshop for the children of Chettinad Hari Shree Vidyalayam on the 25th of Jan. It was a hands-on session to discover the joy of folding paper to create works of art.

Under the expert guidance of Mr. Tanaka Toshinori, Director Nippon Origami Association and the tutors Ms Aoyagi and Ms Akiko, the children transformed a flat sheet of material into a finished sculpture through folding and sculpting techniques. The children were engrossed in the session and opine that they have enjoyed the experience thoroughly.

 
 
 
 

Story Telling by Craig Jenkins at Hari Shree Vidyalayam

Craig Jenkins, of Vayu Naidu Company, UK conducted a fun filled story telling session based on the Ramayana for the children of classes II to V on 15th November 2011. Children of class VII got the opportunity to understand the thrill of story telling and story telling as a profession during an interactive session with Craig.

Inauguration of the "Hey Math Zone" by our Director

The Hey Math Zone was inaugurated by our Director, Mrs.Geetha Muthaiah on 08th March 2012.

The Hey Math Zone is a designated room at school exclusively for the math classes for students from class 6 – 8. This room is well equipped with a whiteboard, a computer, an overhead projector and other math manipulative for various hands on activities.

The teachers from the mathematics Department attended an orientation session on the effective use of the "Hey Math Zone". The Zone is equipped with a host of Interactive Online Lessons aligned to the ICSE curriculum. The animated lesson help students visualize many abstract concepts in geometry and algebra. Most of the lessons are also equipped with question banks, worksheets and other interactive sessions, which help teachers assess students learning.
