Hari Shree Vidyalayam in its endeavor to contribute to world harmony and nurture the children
to become global citizens with an understanding of foreign cultures has adopted an
International Policy. Through
the integration of this policy, the institution aims to be part of the global community and
intends to conduct inter-disciplinary projects on various global/international topics as part
of the regular curricular projects at all grade levels.
To enable us to fulfill this vision, Hari Shree Vidyalayam embarked on a collaborative
learning journey with Holywell Primary School,
Loughborough, UK, as part of the Global School Partnership (GSP),
a British Council initiative. The reciprocal teacher visits during the course of the year,
have been both enriching and inspiring for students and teachers. Beginning June 2011,
Hari Shree Vidyalayam continues with the second phase of the Global School Partnership with
the Joint Curriculum Project. This partnership bagged the Joint Curriculum Grant of £6200
in September 2011. Both the schools are working with the year 5 children on various
collaborative curricular projects. The teacher coordinators from Hari Shree will be
visiting Holywell,UK this December and the UK teachers will be visiting us in April.
Hari Shree Vidyalayam initiated another partnership with Blackfen Senior Secondary School
for girls,Sidcup, UK in March last year. The year 9 students of both schools have been
working on various collaborative projects. The partnership has been awarded a grant of
£2200 to facilitate reciprocal visits of teachers. Two teachers and a Governor from
Blackfen will be visiting us between November, 21 to 26th. This will be followed by a
reciprocal visit by HSV teachers.
The Global School Partnership is about pupils working together to develop and share ideas
and findings and to use each other as a resource by providing a new perspective on global
issues. The global dimension explores what connects us to the rest of the world. It enables
learners to engage with complex global issues and explore the links between their own lives
and people, places and issues throughout the world. We want our children to make sense of
complex global issues like fair trade, to explore the interconnections between the local
and the global, to share experiences with people from diverse cultures and to enable
learners to participate in school and beyond as active and responsible global citizens.
