Global Citizenship Programme

The Chettinad Hari Shree Vidyalayam Global Citizenship programme aims to encourage our children to take active part in protecting their environment, have a positive relationship with their immediate community and the larger society by creating unique opportunities throughout the school year.  A brainchild of our Director Smt. Geetha Muthaiah, the GC programme was inaugurated in June 2017.  Global Citizenship requires us to build capacity, quality, characteristics and ability to learn about and engage with the world.

Ms. Radha Varadarajan, our Program Advisor, presented the framework and implementation strategy of the program to the teachers. At the heart of this program is the idea of “thinking globally and acting locally”, which urges people to consider the entire world and to take action in their own communities and cities.

All students and teachers from grades VI to XII are involved in projects of their choice. The themes run parallel to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations. Some examples of the theme include Quality Education, End of Poverty and Hunger, Water Stewardship and Climate Action.

Clicking on the focus areas will give a brief description of the class projects and the work in progress.  Whatever be the project the child is working on, we are encouraging their ability to see things as a whole.
