Archives – Cultural Fest (2009-10)

Chettinad Hari Shree Vidyalayam hosted Dhanur Vaibhav, its Annual Cultural festival on December 11th, 12th and 13th 2009. Dhanur Vaibhav not only provides a platform for our students to showcase their talents but also allows them to learn about the classical Indian arts. The larger objective here is to ensure that appreciation of the arts is intrinsic to their learning.

Day 1 – December 11

The festival was launched on the evening of December 11th with the lighting of the traditional lamp by Chief Guest Smt. Alarmel Valli and Director, Smt. Geetha Muthiah. In her welcome address, Smt. Geetha Muthiah stressed on the importance of the spectator, in addition to the performer, in sustaining art.

The programmes for the evening included invocations to Lord Vinayaka, a performance by well known Kuchipudi dancer, Mrs. Anuradha Ganesh, dances and a play by the students of the school.

Day 2 – December 12

The second day of Dhanur Vaibhav started with an invocation to Lord Ganesh. This was followed by fusion music, a beautiful Jugalbandhi, keerthanams, a Jathishwaram performance and a dance on a Lord Krishna bhajan.

Day 3 – December 13

The third and final day of Dhanur Vaibhav celebrations commenced with a graceful Odissi Dance Lecture- Demonstration by Smt. Samhita Basu Ghosh and her troupe. This was followed by a Carnatic vocal concert by sisters Karthika and Keerthana and a folk dance recital by the students of our school. The Principal, Smt. Deivanai, delivered the vote of thanks.
