Art Curriculum – Classes II to VII

For classes II – V, the teachers identify age appropriate kinaesthetic activities and incorporate them into the curriculum. All classes do art work in connection with the celebration of special days and festivals.

Classes II and III 

Students are introduced to simple step by step drawing methods and creating situational pictures on seasons and festivals. They also learn to fill colour in spaces. Students of grade 2 are introduced to the safe and appropriate use of scissors.

Activities for this age group include

  • Kite making
  • Origami windmills
  • Pot painting
  • Making forms/shapes from different textures like foam and box board

Class IV and V 

Students are taught more complex activities suited to their kinaesthetic.

Art and Craft activities for this age group include

  • Pop Up cards of varying styles
  • Miniature books
  • Weaving friendship bands out of yarn and old reused boxes
  • Puppet making
  • Gift boxes and 3 dimensional boxes using origami paper

Class VI and VII

Activities for students of this age group include

  • Practising portraits
  • Still life and figurative drawing
  • Festival based art
  • Clay modelling
  • Origami
  • Quilling
  • Painting and Pencil Shading
  • 3D Pop up cards
