Archives – Vinayaga Chaturthi

Ganesh Chathurthi was celebrated with traditional gaiety and fervour in school. The primary students of the school witnessed an entertaining and informative puppet show on stories, rituals and traditions associated with the festival. The show was conducted by Ms. Radha Krishnan and Ms. Lalitha Sreenivasan. They also highlighted the importance of ‘arugampullu’ and ‘thopukarnam’. Clay Ganeshas and accessories, made by class IV students were displayed during this special assembly. Classes II and III did craft activities to mark the occasion. Classes V to XII made their own Ganeshas, bought eco friendly Ganeshas, drew kolams, distributed prasadams in class and marked the festival in their own individual styles. Students of the older classes sourced environmentally friendly Ganesha idols, marketed and sold them in school in order to create awareness on the importance of celebrating this festival in ways that do not pollute our lakes and seas.
