Archives – Skanda (2012-13)

December 14 and 15, 2012

Dhanur Vaibhav, the Annual Cultural Festival of Chettinad Hari Shree Vidyalayam not only provides a platform for our students to showcase their talents but also gives them an opportunity to appreciate and learn about classical Indian arts.

This year, the dance drama production staged 6 stories based on the 6 sacred abodes of Lord Muruga, as depicted in the Skanda Purana. Various snippets from the legend were weaved into the dance drama – his birth as the son of Shiva to destroy the rakshasa Surapadman, his journey to become the God of War, his relocation to Palani and his marriages to Valli and Deivanai.

The artistes included almost 110 students and teachers, along with professionals, who also handled the music, script and direction. The mega production was once again choreographed and directed by Shri. M.S. Hariharan.
