December is the month of cultural festival in Chennai.  Chettinad Hari Shree Vidyalayam joins this cultural fervour with its cultural fest – ‘Dhanur Vaibhav’.  Initiated three years back, this cultural event is not just a platform to showcase the talents of the students but also to stimulate them to learn about classical Indian arts.

The festival was inaugurated by Kalaimamani Guru Sri Nara Simhachari and the Director of the school, Smt. Geetha Muthiah. On Day 2, the traditional kuthuvilakku was lit by Smt. Kumarani Meena. Scintillating performances during the 3 day festival included a flute recital by maestro Shri Shashank, Korean dances by the INKO academy, a Kalaripayattu display by CVN Kalari Nadakkavu, a Bharatanatyam recital by Smt. Shilpa Darshan Kumar, a Bharatnatyam and Mohiniattam Jugalbandhi by the dancers at Abhinaya Patasala, Chennai and Regatta, Thiruvananthapuram, a Chenda performance by Padmashri Mattanur Sankarankutty Marar and troupe, Jugalbandhi by talented teacher duo of Mrs. Chitra Mohan Kumar and Mrs. Kowsalya. Students of the school performed a violin recital, Carnatic vocals and Bharatanatyam.

Our in house dance drama production ‘Ramayana’, encompassing students and teachers of Hari Shree Vidyalayam and professionals of Abhinaya Nritta Pathasala elevated Dhanur Vaibhav to higher levels. It was choreographed and directed by Shri. M.S. Hariharan. The focus was to foster values and cultural ethos through this popular epic. The lyrics, musical score and choreography were custom made for this maiden school production.
