Siddharth Sridhar wins SOF Academic Excellence Scholarship

Siddharth Sridhar has won the 2015-16 2nd Academic Excellence Scholarship (AES) by virtue of scoring the highest aggregate in the 3 Olympiad exams organized by the Science Olympiad Foundation in the entire zone/state. The scholarship includes a trophy, a merit certificate and a cash award of Rs. 5000.

 


Karate Black Belt – Young recipient from CHSV 

Dhruv Thirumalai of Class V, a student of the karate classes run in the school by CSIKA (founded by Sensei C. Nagamani), is the proud recipient of the Karate Black Belt. He has participated and won several prizes for Kata and Kumite at inter school, district, state and international level tournaments. A keen sportsman, Dhruv is the first recipient of the Karate Black Belt from the school. It may be noted that he was also adjudged Man of the Series in the U-10 Interschool cricket championship won by the school recently.

 

 


Young Achiever Award – Child Percussion Artist 

Master Arun Solaiappan of Class VIII was awarded the Young Achiever Award by the Rotary Club of Chennai East RA Puram in recognition of his achievements as a child percussion artist. Arun has a burning passion to achieve great heights in his chosen field of interest and has completed the coveted 8th grade exams of Trinity College, London. He mastered the mridangam at an early age and is inspired by the legendary drummer, Sivamani. Arun has also participated in numerous public performances, TV shows, featured in recording albums and travelled to many parts of India and the world for giving performances.

 


CHSV Wins U-10 Interschool Cricket Tournament
February 14-24, 2016

Hari Shree Vidyalayam won the U-10 PSBB KK Nagar Interschool cricket tournament which saw the participation of 12 city schools. Our team played a total of 5 matches and remained unbeatable throughout. The team was presented with a winner’s trophy and a rolling trophy for their achievement.

The fact that our players played a fair and composed game under the able guidance of their cricket coach, Mr Senthil also deserves special mention.

The Hindu and Mylapore Times featured the CHSV victory in their papers.

Geo Genius Geography Olympiad 

Our students did well in the Geo Genius Geography Olympiads.

At the senior level (classes VIII to X):

S. Yaalini and Poorvaja, both of class IX, won consolation and special prizes at the Sri KK Hebbar Art competition organized by Kannadigara Kootu

 


Interschool Tournament at Primrose School

February 13, 2016

Our students participated in the 2nd Interschool Football tournament at Primrose School in the U-11 and U-14 boys categories.

In spite of a tough draw, the U-14 boys made it to the semi finals where they lost a well fought match.

In the U-11 category, our boys competed with 13 other teams in the city and played some scintillating games. Scoring 8 goals throughout the tournament, the Hari Shree team reached the finals and became runners up after giving a tough fight to the winning team.

Salaikiranamali. S of Grade V was declared the Best U-11 player of the tournament having scored 5 goals in all.

 


Exceptional performance in the Australian National Chemistry Quiz  

Our students did extremely well in the Australian National Chemistry Quiz (ANCQ) and many of our students were awarded the High Distinction certificate.

Srinivasan R Sharma and Harsh Yadav of Class X scored 100% and in addition to a certificate, they were also gifted watches. Siddharth Sridhar and Gokul Venkatesh of class X were awarded HD Excellence certificates.

Harsh Yadav and Srinivasan R Sharma are featured as ‘Star Performers’ in the ANCQ brochure.

Olympiads – Level 2 

The first level of the various school Olympiads have now concluded and our students have put in a very commendable performance.

28 students have qualified to participate in level 2 of NSO, the National Science Olympiad, 8 students have qualified to participate in level 2 of NCO, the National Cyber Olympiad and 40 students have qualified to participate in level 2 of IMO, the Mathematics Olympiad.

Chettinad Vidyashram U-12 Cricket Tournament

December 18, 2015

As part of the Chettinad Vidyashram U-12 cricket tournament, Hari Shree Vidyalayam played its first match against PSBB. Our school won this match and Shabir of Class V was awarded man of the match.

Hari Shree also won its second match against P.S Senior in which Abinav of Class VI was awarded man of the match.

Our team though, lost a keenly contested semi final match.

 


Talent Extraordinaire – Our ASSET Scholars 

ASSET (Assessment of Scholastic Skills through Educational Testing) is a scientifically designed, skill based assessment. It measures how well skills and concepts underlying the school syllabus have been understood by the student.

As part of ASSET 2014-15, Karthik Eshwar, currently in Class VIII, figured in the list of top 12 students nationwide for classes VII and VIII. He was awarded the ‘ASSET Talent Scholar Gold’ award and his picture and details were published in the ASSET brochure for 2015-16.

Mahendra Kurup of Class VI secured the highest in Mathematics in the national level benchmarking ASSET test of 2015-16

 


State Level Winners in French Exams

September 2015

Prayatna Educational Society and Alliance Francaise, Rouen, France conducted a State Level French exam in the month of September. Out of the 20 students from Hari Shree who participated, 18 have qualified for the National level exams. The following students have won prizes at the state level –

Rangoli Fest 2015

October 31, 2015

Krithiyaa. S and Ashank of class VIII participated in the St.John’s Public School cultural event – Rangoli Fest 2015 and won the first place in the collage event titled ‘Amalgamation’.

 


 

Harmony Regionals 2015

September 2, 2015

Harmony 2015 is an annual school level international event held by The Global Education and Leadership Foundation (tGELF). It brings together students for a series of competitions and workshops. The Regional Finals were held on September 2, 2015 at Padma Seshadri Bala Bhavan  in K K Nagar, Chennai. Our students participated and won prizes in the following events.

First Place in Sense, Reason and Intellect – The Debate Competition

The participants were Siddharth Sridhar, Harsh Yadav, Meera Vijay and Roshan Sreekanth, all students of Class X

Harsh Yadav was also awarded the Best Speaker Award

Second Place in Mind Games – the Chess Competition 

Vishwa Ramesh kumar and Rahul Karur of Class IX won the second place in the chess competition

The winners will be participating in the Harmony Nationals to be held in Gurgaon on November 28 and 29, 2015.

 


 

Best Speaker Award at the APLMUN

August 21 and 22, 2015

Anivridh Haribabu of Class IX was awarded the Best Speaker award at the Model United Nations (MUN) organized by the APL Global School.  MUN is an opportunity for students to improve their knowledge on international and socio-political affairs. It enriches team working skills and broadens their perspective through research, debating and public speaking.

 


 

National Level Winners at ASISC

September 18, 2015 

Our students, Harsh Yadav and Siddharth Sridhar won the National Level Quiz competition conducted by ASISC, the Association of Schools for the Indian School Certificate. This is a platform for students of ICSE and ISC affiliated schools to exhibit their proficiency in General Knowledge. Harsh and Siddharth had earlier won the first place at the regional levels. The national levels were held in Thrissur, Kerala on 18th September 2015. The event witnessed spirited participation from 10 regional winners across India.

Siddharth Sridhar wins the First place in Geography Olympiad

April 12, 2015

Siddharth Sridhar participated and won the first place in the National Finals of the Geography Olympiad conducted by the IBGB Learning Society. The event was held in Kota on April 12, 2015 and Siddharth participated in the senior category. The competition, which included a preliminary written round and a final oral round, saw him win a gold medal, a trophy and a laptop for his achievement.

 


 

ALLEN CHAMP 2015 – Siddharth Sridhar

August 16, 2015

ALLEN CHAMP is an initiative by the ALLEN Career Institute in Kota, Rajasthan, to honour and mentor students from classes V to XII who are recognized across the globe for being a prize winner of any prestigious examination, event, Olympiad or competition organised at the national or international level – like the Duke Summer Study program, Olympiads conducted by SOF, ASSET etc., in the last 3 years. The top 10 students are invited to attend the National Finals on the Championship Day held in Kota, Rajasthan. They are tested orally on various topics before deciding the final rankings.

Siddharth Sridhar of our school was declared 1st in the Class IX category and awarded a 10 gm gold medal, a championship trophy and a cash award of 1.5 lakhs.

Kids Central organized their cultural on the theme – ‘Connecting the Dots’ on 13th July 2015. Students from CHSV participated and won prizes.

Young Achiever in Chess

August 8-9, 2015

S.J. Advaith of class III Sarang participated in the Krishnaswamy Memorial Chess tournament held during the weekend of August 8 and 9 and won 6/8 rounds in the Under-8 category. He was placed 12th in the final standings, out of nearly a hundred participants, and awarded a cup for his performance.

ISC (2014-15) batch students win Scholarship for Higher Education

Srikrishnaa, P. Aravinth and Yeshasvini Gopalan, ISC students who graduated from school in 2015, are among the ISC’s top 1% achievers in the March 2015 council examinations. They have been awarded a scholarship for higher education instituted by the Government of India. Consequently, Srikrishnaa, Aravinth and Yeshasvini will receive Rs.80, 000 every year for the next five years. We congratulate our former students on this remarkable achievement.

‘Ganamrith’ – the Carnatic singing competition, saw Datathreya of Class V win the first place in the junior category

Ms. Shashikala Varadarajan wins GTA 

Ms. Shashikala, Science teacher at CHSV has won the prestigious Global Teacher Accreditation (GTA) award from the Cambridge Education Foundation and British Council. She was motivated to do action research in her Class V environment to better understand global trends in education, to include innovative teaching practices in her classroom and utilize this as an opportunity to grow with her students. She chose the topic ‘Nutrition in Food’ –  her quest was to equip her Grade 5 students to identify the nutritive value of food through experimentation.

Harsh Yadav wins SOF Academic Excellence Scholarship for 2014-15

Harsh Yadav (Grade 10) has won the ‘Academic Excellence Scholarship’ (AES) for 2014-15 from Tamil Nadu and Puducherry zone.

The Academic Excellence Scholarship recognizes and rewards excellence in academic performance and is awarded to the student scoring highest cumulative marks in 3 Olympiad exams from his zone.

 


 

CHSV team wins U-16 Cricket Tournament

May 4 to 7, 2015

The Hari Shree Vidyalayam cricket team participated in an Under 16 tournament which was held at the Palmyra Cricket Ground in Pondicherry from May 4 to 7, 2015. We won all 3 qualifying matches before the finals and went on to win the finals also.
